ECS 2026 Community Rules
We Are One Community — Online and Offline
These community rules apply to all interactions on the ECS 2026 community platform — including discussions, comments, direct messages, shared content, profile information, and any other form of participation. They are an extension of the European Collaboration Summit's Code of Conduct and our founding commitment: We are one community. Our community rocks.
1. Respect Every Member
Treat everyone with the same respect you would expect in person at the summit. We do not tolerate harassing, degrading, intimidating, or disrespectful behavior toward any community member — regardless of their wealth, education, nationality, language, religion, ethnicity, race, gender, age, neurodiversity, identity, skills, or experience. This applies to posts, comments, direct messages, profile content, and any shared media.
2. Keep It Professional and Constructive
This is a professional technology community. Engage in discussions with the intent to learn, share, and help others grow. Disagreements are welcome — personal attacks are not. Critique ideas, not people. If a conversation becomes heated, step back and return when you can contribute constructively.
3. No Politics or Personal Agendas
We are a technology community. Content and discussions must relate to the ECS 2026 event, the Microsoft technology ecosystem, professional development, or community topics. We do not tolerate bringing politics, political campaigning, religious promotion, or personal agendas into the community space.
4. Share Knowledge Generously, Credit Others Fairly
One of the best things about this community is the willingness to share expertise. When sharing content, articles, code, or solutions created by others, always give proper attribution. Do not present someone else's work as your own. When answering questions, be patient — remember that every expert was once a beginner.
5. No Spam, Self-Promotion, or Solicitation
Do not use the community for unsolicited advertising, excessive self-promotion, recruitment, or direct sales outreach. Sharing relevant blog posts, tools, or projects you have created is welcome when it adds genuine value to a discussion. Sponsors and partners have dedicated channels — please use them. Repeated or irrelevant promotional content will be removed.
6. Protect Privacy — Yours and Others'
Do not share personal information about other community members without their explicit consent. This includes contact details, photographs, private messages, employment details, or any other identifying information. Respect that some members may participate under pseudonyms or wish to limit what they share publicly.
7. Keep Content Appropriate and Safe
Do not post or share content that is sexually explicit, violent, discriminatory, or illegal under the laws of the European Union. Do not share malware, phishing links, or any content designed to deceive or harm other members. All shared media — including images, files, and links — must be safe, legal, and relevant.
8. Use the Right Channels
Post content in the appropriate sections of the community. Event-related questions belong in event discussions, technical content belongs in the knowledge base or relevant topic areas, and general conversation belongs in social spaces. This helps everyone find what they need and keeps the community organized.
9. Report Concerns, Don't Escalate
If you encounter behavior that violates these rules — or anything that makes you feel unwelcome or unsafe — please report it to the community moderators rather than engaging in public confrontation. All reports are taken seriously and handled confidentially. We are committed to acting on reported concerns promptly and fairly.
10. Moderators Have the Final Word
Community moderators are volunteers and organizers who keep this space welcoming and functional. Their decisions regarding content removal, warnings, or member sanctions are final. If you believe a moderation decision was made in error, you may appeal privately to the community team — but public disputes about moderation actions are not permitted.
Consequences
Violations of these rules may result in content removal, a formal warning, temporary suspension, or permanent removal from the community — at the sole discretion of the ECS organizing team. Severe or repeated violations, particularly those involving harassment, discrimination, or illegal activity, may result in immediate and permanent removal without prior warning, including revocation of event access.
These rules exist for one reason: to ensure that everyone in the ECS community feels welcome, respected, and empowered to participate. By joining this community, you agree to uphold them. Thank you for helping us build something great together.
